Susceptibility of Italian olive cultivars to various Colletotrichum species associated with fruit anthracnose

چکیده
Fruit anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum species is a major disease of olive (Olea europaea) worldwide. In this study, we tested in vitro the susceptibility eight widely grown Italian cultivars and one Spanish cultivar to five species. The were Carolea, Cassanese, Coratina, Dolce Agogia, Frantoio, Leccino, Ottobratica Sant'Agostino. cultivar, included as reference, was Picual. species, pathogenicity tests, C. acutatum, gloeosporioides, godetiae, karsti nymphaeae. Olive drupes at comparable ripening stage wound-inoculated with conidial suspension severity infections rated various time intervals after inoculation using scale 0 6. results expressed terms relative area under progress curve (rAUDPC). acutatum most aggressive while least among tested. Frantoio Leccino susceptible Ottobratica, Coratina Carolea all Separate experiments aimed evaluate effect both method drupe on interaction between cultivars. Only nymphaeae induced symptoms nonwounded drupes. general, green significantly lower than mature drupes; however, rankings for their showed similar trends.

Variability in Susceptibility to Anthracnose in the World Collection of Olive Cultivars of Cordoba (Spain)
Anthracnose of olive (Olea europaea ssp. europaea L.), caused by Colletotrichum species, is a serious disease causing fruit rot and branch dieback, whose epidemics are highly dependent on cultivar susceptibility and environmental conditions. Over a period of 10 years, there have been three severe epidemics in Andalusia (southern Spain) that allowed us to complete the assessment of the World Oli...
متن کاملSpecies of the Colletotrichum acutatum complex associated with anthracnose diseases of fruit in Brazil.
Although Colletotrichum acutatum was recently investigated and shown to be a species complex comprising about 30 species, the name is still used in its broad sense for anthracnose pathogens of fruits in Brazil. In this study, a multilocus molecular analysis was carried out based on a dataset of ITS, HIS3, GAPDH, CHS-1, TUB2 and ACT sequences of Colletotrichum strains belonging to the C. acutatu...
متن کاملSusceptibility of Viburnum Species and Cultivars to Phytophthora ramorum1
Phytophthora ramorum causes ramorum blight on Viburnum species, which are commonly grown as ornamentals. This study evaluated 24 different species or cultivars for susceptibility to P. ramorum. Whole plants were inoculated with an NA1 isolate of P. ramorum and placed in dew chambers at 20C (68F). After 5 days, the percentage of necrotic leaves for each plant and the percentage of necrotic area ...

Microbiological analysis of samples taken at various stages of malting pearl millet cultivars was investigated. The results indicated that total bacterial count, mould count, staphylococcal count, coliform count and yeast count ranged from 4.08 to 5.28 log10 CFU/g, 2.50 to 3.71, 1.78 to 4.20, 2.65 to 3.65, and 2.54 to 3.70, respectively. The predominant microorganism in unmalted grain was Bacil...
